SCHOOL DAY

The Battle of Camp Wildcat 2008 Civil War Reenactment will include a special day for area school
children on Friday of the event.

Between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. as many as 1,400 school children will receive lessons in living history
provided by the reenactors at Camp Wildcat.

We will need reenactors for the 2008 Camp Wildcat School Day to demonstrate period activities such as candlemaking, soapmaking, blacksmithing, dollmaking, butter churning, or any other period
activities appropriate to 1861 or earlier.

We strongly encourage reenactors who can do so to come early. The
children would like to see a
skirmish, but we rarely have enough reenactors to hold one.

During School Day, the Camp is closed to the public in order to give the students an opportunity to talk with the Camp Wildcat reenactors, ask questions, and learn about
history in an atmosphere which
focuses on the children.

If you can be a demonstrator for School Day, or if you would like to register your school (grades 4-12) to attend School Day, contact
Laurel Home Guard President Juanita Westerfield at
nita@2geton.net
or phone 606-528-1817.
